Almost every truck on the market today is powerful, capable, and fun to drive. In the next few years, however, automakers are working hard to win your dollars in a competitive segment with new features, new trim packages, and more power. Here are some of the most interesting trucks coming out in 2018 and 2019.
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Diesel
The 2019 model year of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Diesel has already been seen driving in the wild. If the spy shots are to be believed, we will finally be getting a diesel powertrain on this pickup truck, something that will help it compete with the Ford F-150’s Powerstroke and the Ram 1500’s EcoDiesel. This test truck was spotted refueling in Death Valley, and based on the nozzle it used to refuel, it was certainly a diesel.
The spy photos also show off a dual-outlet exhaust system that is reminiscent of a sports truck instead of a regular diesel pickup. Unfortunately, experts are still at a loss as to what diesel powertrain could be sitting under the hood of this upcoming Silverado. After all, so far, General Motors hasn’t had a diesel engine that would work with a half-ton pickup. The closest they’ve come was a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel found on luxury European models, but as it was designed almost two decades ago, it hopefully won’t be making an appearance.
