It’s just not been a good year for Fiat Chrysler. The company just announced that it will be recalling almost a half a million Ram heavy duty and medium duty pickup trucks worldwide. The issue behind this recall is apparently a faulty water pump that, if overheated, has the potential to cause an engine fire.
This comes on the heels of another recent recall of the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger who were known to potentially spit out oil onto the windshields with another fire risk. The Ram pickup recall is for the 2013 to 2017 models under the Ram 2500 and 3500 series who have the 6.7-liter diesel engines. Most of these trucks are in the United States and the company has also said that they are not aware of any injuries directly related to this problem, but they have acknowledged that there were a number of fire-related challenges and the company will inspect and probably replace all the affected vehicle’s water pumps.
