It’s been quite the year for Fiat Chrysler. They were up for sale, then they weren’t, and now they’re potentially begging for buyers. Now, the company faces an unexpected recall for the Hellcat engine in the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger. This is a potential headache the company has no time for, that’s for sure.
According to the recall documents, the engine is spitting out oil in all the wrong places. We’re never going to be confused for an automotive engineer, but that really doesn’t sound like it’s a good thing. The company says that there’s potential for huge fires and crash risks that are stemming from cooling problems. The Fiat Chrysler team is pointing to a faulty hose as the root of the problem. The hose might separate the engine cooling line. This could lead to oil loss on the windshield. Fast loss of engine oil and an obscured windshield means that you might be able to see shit and crash. Unsurprisingly.
So it looks like this specific recall will impact about 10% of the Challenger and Charger model lines. Anyway, if you have a Challenger or a Charger, you might want to get it checked.
